Since the event’s inception in 2015, the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN has enjoyed spectacular sponsor support (especially on event day) and the 4th annual event on Sunday, 20 May 2018 will be no different!
This year the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN’s 10km route from Woodbridge Island (Milnerton) to Bree Street (Cape Town, CBD) will boast 20 high energy Vibe Points that will be activated by event sponsors including: Absa, PUMA, KFM, Mango, Totalsports, Flying Fish Chill Lite, Rialto, Super Rent, Thule, Budget, Die Burger, Spur, Big Box and Coca-Cola.
“Over the last four years, we have seen excellent growth in the number of people that participate in the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN. As an official sponsor, we strongly believe that this event is more than just a race – it is a refreshing way of inviting business and people from all walks of life to come out and enjoy their city. As a bank we continue to back platforms that not only enable us to engage with our clients, but to also be a part of creating platforms that celebrate everything that is beautiful about our country,” says Mike Vacy-Lyle, CEO of Absa Business.
Runners can look out for Absa supporters at Water Point 1 and at a Vibe Point.
A highlight at the 2017 event, the exciting #ForeverFaster PUMA ‘Beat Bolt’ sprint will be back this year.
“The #ForeverFaster PUMA ‘Beat Bolt’ sprint is entertaining to watch and encourages both runner and spectator interaction,” says Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director of PUMA South Africa. “Being a ‘Beat Bolt’ competition, this activation requires speed. Runners need to dig deep and give their all over a 100m sprint. This section of the route will be timed. The runner (male and female) to clock the fastest time over the 100m will take home a PUMA shopping voucher to the value of R10 000.”
The #ForeverFaster PUMA ‘Beat Bolt’ sprint will be in the region of the 10km mark in Queen Victoria Street. A commentator will be stationed ahead of the activation to motivate runners to make this the fastest 100m of their lives. All runners will be notified of their 100m sprint times via sms after the race. In addition to this activation PUMA will also show support at Water Point 2.
The Totalsports Vibe Points will be a hive of excitement with retail partner, Totalsports pulling out all the stops to keep runners motivated.
According to Craig Lamb, Head of Totalsports, the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN is a fun event that encourages a healthy lifestyle and social interaction. “As the Sports Brand Authority we believe sport has the power to change lives and are excited to be part of events like these that encourage wellness and fitness. A larger number of Totalsports staff members will either show support on route or actually take part on the day. We’re also very excited to have the Amy Foundation entertaining runners at one of the Totalsports Vibe Points. We look forward to an action packed day out in the Mother City.”
An eight ton truck will be the focal point at the Super Rent Vibe Point.
“We are proud to be the event’s logistics partner,” says Sharon Macmillan, Super Rent Business Development Manager for the Cape Region. “It’s a privilege to share in this wonderful event that brings such excitement to the people of Cape Town. Besides supplying vehicles (tog bag trucks, one ton panel van Quantums, eight ton panel van trucks for the transportation of event equipment and sponsor branding, 14-seater Quantums for athlete transport, route and setup vehicles) Super Rent staff will also support runners on route from one of our eight ton trucks. Runners can expect encouragement in the form of dancing, music and a lot of cheering. This will be our third year at the same activation point so runners know where to find us.”
Parents can also enjoy the action of the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN together with their children thanks to THULE. A proud partner of the event, THULE helps to transport valuables safely, easily and in style, enabling sporting and adventure enthusiasts to live an active lifestyle.
Runners will not go home hungry thanks to Spur Steak Ranches. Look forward to an extra side order of motivation in the final stretch.
