A proud charity of the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN since the event’s inception in 2015, Die Burger Kinderfonds received a welcomed donation of R9 045 in 2018 thanks to runner support.

Started in 1957, Die Burger Kinderfonds is a non-profit organisation that aims to assist with the educational needs of less fortunate children and developing the youth’s leadership skills.

“Youth development lies close to our hearts, so it is with great pride that we continue to support the fantastic role that Die Burger Kinderfonds fulfils.  We are thankful to each and every runner that chose to support this deserving organisation.  It is through your support that the donation could be made.  We look forward to growing the support in 2019,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.

“The Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN is a special and fun event to be a part of,” says Suzaan Potgieter, Die Burger Kinderfonds Coordinator.  “The event is a great tourism opportunity for Cape Town, it is fun and it places a strong focus on charity support.  Die Burger and the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN have one very important aspect in common: Cape Town!  We love how the event connects different people – whether you are running professionally, for the fun or just to enjoy it. It is also a beautiful race.  What is more iconic than having Table Mountain as your view during a race?”

Die Burger Kinderfonds supports organisations and communities where children are less fortunate,” continues Potgieter.  “These organisations include ACVV (Afrikaanse Christelike Vroue Vereniginig), Badisa and the Western Cape Educational Department to mention just a few.  We are proud to be a charity of the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN.  The donation received in 2018 helped us to reach our targets and make a difference in the lives of so many children.  We are extremely thankful for the support and look forward to a spectacular race in 2019.”
