Cape Town’s most exciting 10km road race, the Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN continues to cause a stir in both Cape Town and Stellenbosch by hosting weekly Friday 5k training runs in the prelude to the 2016 event.
“The Friday 5k was initiated in Cape Town as a lead up to the 2015 Absa Cape Town ONERUN,” says Sue Ullyett, Event Manager Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN. “The goal was to help runners with their training, while building excitement for the inaugural event. It’s a great way to start the weekend and meet like-minded individuals. There is a fun vibe, while the runners are really friendly and interactive. Due to popular demand, the Stellenbosch Friday 5k was introduced in February this year.”
“The Friday 5k routes are safe for runners,” continues Ullyett. “The Cape Town route incorporates elements of the city, including the Waterfront and Fan Walk, while the Stellenbosch route showcases the true beauty of the City of Oaks. Newcomers will be rewarded with an event t-shirt. There are lucky draw giveaways the first Friday of every month at the Cape Town Friday 5k and the last Friday of every month at the Stellenbosch Friday 5k. We look forward to growing our Absa Cape Town 12 ONERUN #turqarmy.”
